Baylor Genetics Partners with Rainbow Genomics Offering Adult Wellness Screening and High-Risk Cancer Exome Sequencing Tests in Asian Pacific

Hong Kong / Houston, Texas – Baylor Genetics announces a partnership with Hong Kong-based Rainbow Genomics to provide clinical whole exome sequencing tests to patients in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and other Asian countries. Product offering includes adult exome screening, high-risk cancer and wellness cancer tests.

Unlike many “recreational” consumer genetic tests currently available in Asia, these are medical evidence-based genetic tests designed to help physicians screen, diagnose and manage genetic disorders. Plus, these are exome-sequencing-based tests, covering over 22,000 genes, which may increase diagnostic yield, and include genes that may be more specific to Asians.

To overcome the significant shortage of certified genetic counselors in the region, Rainbow Genomics works closely with the Consultagene services from Baylor College of Medicine, to deliver bilingual genetic counseling to patients in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese. Peer-to-peer consultation is also included to support local physicians to adopt “genetics” in their clinical practices.

“Baylor Genetics is enthusiastic about this partnership with Rainbow Genomics as it gives us the opportunity to serve a new patient population with our cutting edge analysis and interpretation of genomic sequence,” said Dr. Christine Eng, Chief Medical Officer of Baylor Genetics.

“Rainbow Genomics is committed to bringing validated genetic tests supported by clear medical evidence to patients and physicians in local communities,” said Daniel Siu, CEO of Rainbow Genomics. “By partnering with Baylor Genetics, we are the first company to deliver whole exome sequencing tests coupled with highly-credible and experienced clinical interpretation from a leading U.S. medical Institution. Patients now have an affordable option to access precision medicine, and may finally obtain diagnoses on genetic disorders that have affected their families for years.”
